Georges St. Pierre finally returned from an extensive layoff to challenge Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title at Madison Square Garden in New York City. GSP had never fought at 185 but that didn’t stop him from jumping the line and getting a crack at Bisping’s belt. Many harcore fans thought that St. Pierre had no right to jump interim champ Robert Whittaker but Dana White and the UFC saw dollar signs and gave “Rush” the title fight in “The Big Apple”.
The fight odds opened with GSP being a slight favorite but this afternoon the fight went to a pick em with even odds on both sides. St. Pierre would be the smaller man in the bout but he also had a ton of experience. Many people were writing the former welterweight champ off and picking Bisping to retain his title in New York. Bisping had size but GSP had an advantage in wrestling.
Did GSP do the unthinkable and win his second title in another weight class or did “The Count” shut down the legend and add to his legacy in the octagon.
