Triple H WWE

Will WWE go with Shane McMahon vs Triple H at Wrestlemania 33?

Shane McMahon always has a memorable match. If he’s not getting thrown off a cage in a Hell in a Cell match he’s taking crazy bumps in other big matches on pay per view. Earlier this year he returned to face Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32 but before then Shane-O-Mac had been away for three and a half years.

Why did Shane leave? There are rumblings he lost a power struggle to his sister Stephanie McMahon and her husband, Triple H around 2012. Steph and Triple H, onscreen and off were slowly beginning to take over the WWE and Shane left to work on other ventures outside of the family business.

WWE Hall of Famer, Ric Flair has been outspoken about his desire to see Shane vs Triple H at Wrestlemania 33. For several weeks he’s mentioned tensions backstage over control of the company and even talked about it again on the latest episode of The Ric Flair Show.

“I think the biggest match people want to see, but I’m not sure it will happen, will be Shane McMahon against Hunter. I said that last week. I mean, that would knock you off your chair and that’s not a job for a chair.”

Triple H has been off TV since screwing Seth Rollins out of the WWE Universal Title in August. “The Game” interfered in a fatal fourway match to help Kevin Owens win the belt instead of Rollins. It’s widely thought that when Triple H returns to WWE TV he will set up a match with Rollins for Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando next Spring.

Shane has been rumored to face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. As if a match against Undertaker at Wrestlamania 32 wasn’t very believable 99% of the fans watching WWE programming know that Shane won’t beat the former UFC champ. As much as I hate to see the McMahon family all over RAW and Smackdown I’d rather watch Shane vs Triple H than Shane vs Brock Lesnar. With Goldberg returning and beating Lesnar in devastating fashion at Survivor Series last month Vince McMahon could be setting up the rematch for Wrestlemania 33 and blowing up the card they were working on.

A lot still has to play out between now and ‘Mania. The Royal Rumble will set up a lot of the storylines next month heading into Wrestlemania and we will get a better sense of WWE booking after the show.
