He’s dug 29 holes for 29 souls now he’s back to take another. Undertaker is back! “The Dead Man” has vowed to return to the main event of Wrestlemania after winning the Royal Rumble later this month. There have been rumblings for months but now it’s official. We will see Taker in the Rumble alongside some of the biggest names in the WWE.

Taker will be in the Rumble alongside Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, Baron Corbin, Goldberg, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman. Strowman was shown backstage watching Undertaker’s big announcement. It’s possible the WWE was foreshadowing a big showdown between the two monsters in the middle of the ring in the battle royal.
Undertaker won the Royal Rumble in 2007 and went on to win the WWE Title from Batista at Wrestlemania 23. If Taker wins the Rumble this year he could go on to face John Cena who is scheduled to face AJ Styles on the show as well. There have been rumblings for months that Taker vs Cena is the big match that Vince McMahon was hoping to build Wrestlemania 33 around. Undertaker had hip surgery last summer and appears to be in really good shape just in time for this big return.
2017 has been rumored to be Undertaker’s last year as an in-ring competitor and he could be looking to retire after Wrestlemania in April. I think Taker should be used to put over a younger star like Reigns or Ambrose but Cena is a much bigger name and will bring in casual wrestling fans.
In addition to AJ Styles vs Cena, Roman Reigns will face Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Title at the Rumble. The show will take place in San Antonio at the Alamodome on January 29 live on the WWE Network.
