Kevin Owens retained the WWE Universal Title tonight at the Royal Rumble despite his best friend, Chris Jericho being suspended over the cage in a shark cage. Owens defeated Roman Reigns after Braun Strowman came down to the ring and destroyed the former Shield member.

Jericho tried to help out Owens in the match by dropping him some brass knuckles but it wound up backfiring as Reigns was in position to win the match until Strowman came down and took out the former champ.
With the win by Owens it will be interesting to see how this affects the Rumble match later tonight. If Chris Jericho goes on to win he would be in position to face his best friend in April for the title. It has been rumored that Jericho vs “KO” is on the books for Mania in Orlando this spring.
By attacking Reigns it looks like Vince McMahon is going forward with Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman at Wrestlemania 33. It was rumored in recent days that Reigns will face Undertaker but not it looks like those plans are off, for now anyway.
We will have to see how the Rumble shakes out later tonight and tune into RAW tomorrow and Smackdown on Tuesday as the Wrestlemania card starts to unfold in the coming weeks.
