Demico Rogers TUF Blog week 7

Hi everyone thanks for checking back for my blog on episode seven. Sorry about getting to it so late I have been Colorado training with Trevor Whitman at Grudge Training Center. It was an awesome week with no distractions and I plan on going back again this month.
They wasted no time in this episode and started right off with the picks, probably because they needed to fit in all the drama. On paper this looked like a sure win for us. Junk was our team captain and has a great record. Matt is a head case with little experience and has been basically banished from his team. After the picks it shows Rashad and Rampage getting into it for the millionth time. You see me in the background with a camera videotaping them talking shit to each other. The producers gave each team a camera to video tape footage of our everyday lives that they could use if they wanted. We video taped stuff for the first few days but quickly lost interest and that was the end of that.
Back at the house Matt is involved in more drama. He passed a note to Junk saying Mike was scared to fight him. His team got even more pissed at him and by the time the fight came I am pretty sure most of his team was pulling for Junk to win.
Matt Mitrione is a guy that no one can really figure out. We don’t really know where he has been or where he is going. We don’t know if he is playing games or if he is really crazy. In my confessionals (that they don’t show) I didn’t talk bad about him, I didn’t say I hated him, I honestly was truly worried about him and thought he might need some psychiatric help. We got along fine and just like with all the other drama in the house I just tried not to get involved.
Going into the fight we knew that Matt was a south paw with an extremely unorthodox style. He was hard to emulate and the coaches used me during training the best they could to imitate Matt, but I am not a south paw. When the fight started I immediately noticed Junk was circling the wrong direction and walked right into a straight left. Shortly after getting sat down he was poked in the eye. This impaired his vision for the rest of the fight. He got his bearings back half way through the round and finished very strong in the last minute or so. In round two I think Junk definitely pushed the pace, got a take down, and even worked some ground and pound. He was walking forward the whole round and Matt was backing up throwing very loose jabs. Towards the end of the round Matt was a busier fighter although his jabs were not causing any damage they were scoring him points. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why there would not have been a third round.
After the fight I was very sad for Junk. I know how hard he worked and then to come and not perform to the best of your abilities is extremely hard to deal with, trust me I know. Junk is a great fighter and anyone that doesn’t think so I dare you to step into the cage with him. He is a beast that doesn’t know how to quit. Two or three days after Junks fight he finally told us that he could not see out of the eye Matt poked him in. He withheld information in case there was a chance he could still get back in the competition. When he went to the hospital he had emergency surgery to reattach his retina and was told he may not fight again. Last time I talked to him his eye had recovered and you should see him again soon!
Stay tuned we have one shot left to get team Rampage a win!
For those of you in the Seattle Area come watch the show with me Wednesday nights at The Liquid Lime in Kirkland at 8pm.
